In many applications, mainly the petrochemical industry, flame/heat protection and chemical protection are required at the same time. Standard chemical suits and disposables cannot be worn because they are made of flammable materials that will ignite, continue to burn, and worsen burn injuries.

Where standard chemical protective clothing is constructed from polymers, Pyrolon uses different technology. Pyrolon fabric is largely based on viscose fiber (wood pulp) to promote charring rather than igniting – allowing it to self-extinguish.

Pyrolon meets the requirements outlined in NFPA 2113 and fully passes EN14116, traits unique in the secondary FR protective clothing market.
